Beverly Hills Middle School Overview

Beverly Hills Middle School, located at 1400 Garrett Road in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1930 as part of the Upper Darby School District's initiative to accommodate the area's growing population. Originally established as a junior high school by James Targett, it served students in the transitional years between elementary and high school. In September 1981, the school transitioned to a middle school model, aligning with educational trends that supported developmentally responsive programs for grades 6 through 8.

Over the decades, Beverly Hills Middle School has expanded and modernized to meet the evolving needs of its student body. More than 1,500 students representing over 70 nationalities attend the school, making it one of the most diverse in the district. Renovations have included the addition of 12 classrooms, a library completed in 2000, and, most recently, plans in 2021 to upgrade the school’s athletic fields and track to regulation size.

As part of the Upper Darby School District—established in 1839—Beverly Hills Middle School carries forward a legacy of academic excellence, supported by a dedicated staff and a
strong community of alumni and educators.
